Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Musical Masterpiece

A cherished classic

No other musical in the world is as magical as CATS. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s masterpiece imaginatively and elegantly combines stirring music, sensational dancing and spectacular costumes to create a thrilling whole. CATS has won a Laurence Olivier Award, seven Tony Awards and three Drama Desk Awards, and has broken countless records: From London’s West End to New York’s Broadway – with a global audience of more than 73 million it is a cherished classic and counts among the longest-running musicals ever. In the autumn of 2025 the English original production will return to Zurich.

Children and adults alike are enchanted when the Jellicle Cats gather in the silvery shimmering junkyard to join paws for their annual ball: In the moonlight of a magical night artful and charming characters such as the magician Mister Mistoffelees, the beautiful Victoria and the villainous Macavity compete for the prize of being reborn into a new life. Andrew Lloyd Webber’s melodies are incomparable, the choreography breathtaking in its effortless fusion of feline movements and human characteristics, the stage design fantastic, the costumes extraordinary – and the world hit “Memory” sung by the diva cat Grizabella, one of the most emotional moments in musical history, is deeply moving.
